Abstract

Due to the high levels of passenger´s traffic inside of the subway stations and the uncertainty of the exact position of the convoy arrival on the platform, events such as accidents occurs every day due to the lack of secure areas assigned for passengers to wait the convoy arrival. Then, the passenger´s agglomeration in the doors causes delays along the entire subway platform creating dislikes among passengers. The aim of this paper is to develop an agent-based simulation model of ZOCALO subway platform to assign secure waiting areas for passengers in order to minimize accidents. First, a conceptual model of subway platform that includes the process of ascent and descent of passengers is presented. Second, the conceptual model is implemented in computer using AnyLogicTM software. Then, a simulation scenario is designed to test accidents minimization due to the implementation of secure waiting areas on the subway platform.
