Track Description

Starting from 1990 a continuous markets globalization process has taken place involving supply chains and causing a remarkable extension of goods, services, information and financial flows.

Markets globalization, September the 11th (terrorist attacks), natural disasters effects, wars as well as demand/supply risks, facilities location, information sharing have strongly underlined the need to consider, as further priority aspect in supply chain management, the supply chain capability to assure continuity over the time. Such aspect is known as supply chain resilience.

In effect, today the supply chain management should take into consideration both the aspects related to supply chain efficiency (i.e. robustness, costs, service levels, etc.) and the supply chain risks, security and vulnerability as well.

The session provides a forum where problems and solutions are presented for supply chain design and management that include innovative contributions, research on new methodologies and applications, simulation models and approaches for supply chain vulnerability, security and resilience.

Topics of interest include modeling and simulation in the following areas:

· Logistics and manufacturing

· Supply chains and logistics network design

· Transportation management and logistics

· Distribution and facility location

· Distribution centres and warehouses management

· Supply chain modeling and simulation

· Supply chain resilience

· Supply chain security

· Supply chain vulnerability

· Supply chain risks analysis

· Methodologies and models for supply chain risks reduction

Current issues of supply management

Additional topics deemed relevant to modeling and simulation in Supply  Management will be considered.

Authors are kindly invited to submit their papers and presentations that include their research works, case studies, and modeling and simulation applications.

Authors' Guidelines

Submission Procedures: For papers please submit a summary of 300 words max in electronics form to the SCS Conference Proceedings Management System web site for review by the program committee. The cover page should include the name of author(s), their affiliation, mailing address as well as the phone number, fax number, and e-mail address of the primary contact author. All the submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the International Program Committee, and they will be judged with respect to their quality, originality, and relevance.
