THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HARBOR, MARITIME AND

MULTIMODAL LOGISTIC MODELLING AND SIMULATION

The HMS Conference concentrates on applications of simulation and computer technologies to logistics, supply chain management, multimodal transportation, maritime environment and industrial logistics. HMS Conference is a traditional event and it was held successfully worldwide, usually in the surroundings of major international ports ( HMS1999 Genoa, HMS2000 Portofino, HMS2001 Marseille, HMS2002 Bergeggi, HMS2003 Riga, HMS2004 Rio de Janeiro, HMS2006 Barcelona, HMS2007 Bergeggi).
However HMS foundations are even older, originally a "Harbour & Maritime Transport Workshop" was included as part of Simulation in Industry Conference, Genoa (1996) and then a "Modelling and Simulation within a Maritime Environment Conference" was organized in Riga during 1998; In 2008 the Conference moved to South Italy in HMS2008, in co-location with I3M2008, the event was a great success in term of quality and attendance; the 2009 edition was very successful in the Canary Island: Tenerife Spain and the HMS2010 was held in Fes (Morocco). In 2011 the conference moved in Italy, while HMS 2012 has been held in Vienna and it is a joint event in I3M2012. In 2013 the conference moved to Greece as a joint event of I3M2013, co-locating HMS2013, EMSS2013, MAS2013, DHSS2013, IMAACA2013, I-WISH 2013 and SESDE 2013 . In 2014 the conference was held in Bordeux, France, as part of I3M2014. HMS2015 was held in Bergeggi, Italy, still as part of I3M2015. In the past editions worldwide specialist had the opportunity to participate and interact to this important International Forum on Logistics. The audience includes both users, vendors and scientists operating in applying advanced techniques to supply chains, logistics and handling facilities.

A message to the I3M Community regarding COVID-19

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is presenting tremendous challenges for our entire world. During this period of hardship and uncertainty, we understand that the global research community is significantly but also variably affected by this pandemic. Despite the fact that the 2020 edition of I3M conference is still months away, we want to provide the following clarifications and reassurance.

  • We are approaching the paper submission deadline of April 15th and we are still maintaining our current plan of hosting the 2020 International Multidisciplinary Modeling & Simulation Multiconference in September 2020. We encourage authors to continue to submit papers by this deadline but we will remain supportive and flexible with the submission deadline, as we understand that this situation may affect individual paper processing times.
  • Every paper submitted to the conference will be processed as normal and we will ensure proper review times and publication according to the Call for Paper.
  • We will continue to monitor the developing situation, hope that the current protective measures return the first results but we are also trying to get creative about new ideas to handle the conference and transition to conferencing remotely from our homes, thus allowing participants to present their paper, learn, and get in contact with the I3M community as well as sponsors to showcase their services and products. Further information will be soon available depending on the future developments of the virus.

We will continue to update you throughout the next few months to keep the community apprised of any adjustments that might need to be made. We wish everyone health, patience, and strength during this difficult time. Please keep in touch with us! We will try to keep research communication moving as closely as possible to a normal process with flexibility.

I3M & International Journals

It is a long tradition for I3M to provide opportunities to its Authors to extend their work for being published in International Journals; in fact as one of the most important and successful Simulation appointment, I3M 2020 includes historical conferences such us EMSS and HMS that this years will respectively celebrate the 32th and 22th years edition. Thanks to the invaluable works of the Organizing Committees, International Program Committees, Reviewers and Local Organizers, this year the I3M Multiconference is one of the biggest events of M&S worldwide. So, due to these reasons, several International Journals will publish Special Issues based on a collection of extended versions of best selected papers among those submitted to  EMSS,  MAS,  HMS,  DHSS,  IWISH,  SESDE,  IMAACA,  FoodOPS,  FoodOPS
